If you’ve ever been in any church, anywhere at all, no doubt you have heard this verse. By the Holy Spirit, John revealed the truth of Who Jesus is when he saw Jesus passing by.

Communion Verse.
Many churches recite this verse in the process of preparing to serve communion to their congregations. Next, they most likely tell them that they need to confess all of their sins to God to be made right with Him so they don’t partake, “Unworthily.”

You know what they’re implying, of course: That if you don’t confess your sins, you might get sick or even die if you partake with sin in your life.

THAT IS ABSOLUTELY NOT TRUE. By confessing your sins as a believer before taking communion, YOU ARE REMINDING GOD OF WHAT HE HAS ALREADY TAKEN AWAY, past perfect tense. It is a slap in His face.

Partaking Unworthily.
It’s not the person that partakes who is unworthy. NEWS FLASH: We are all unworthy. It is the MANNER that is unworthy. To partake in an UNWORTHY MANNER means not making a distinction between the Bread and the Wine, representing Jesus’ BODY and His BLOOD.

Jesus shed His BLOOD for our forgiveness. His BODY was broken for our complete health and healing. That is properly DISCERNING the bread and the wine of communion. Those who don’t correctly discern the difference are simply not taking full advantage of the physical health imparted to us by Jesus’ broken body. It will not harm them but they are robbed of the full effect of His finished work.

All Means “ALL.”
Now, understand, there’s nothing wrong with confessing your sins as long as you know YOU ARE ALREADY FORGIVEN OF ALL. But Perhaps some don’t understand the meaning of “ALL.”

Does the Bible say that Jesus took away ALL your sins or not? Yes. He is faithful and just to forgive you of ALL your sins, 1 John 1:9.

Did The PERFECT, SINLESS, SELFLESS Lamb of God do a good job? Yes. Then in your life, ALL your sins are taken away. THERE ARE NONE LEFT. PERIOD.

ALL MEANS, “ALL,” from the time you were born until the time you see Jesus face to face! Yes, even those you have not yet committed.

How is that possible?

Past-Present-Future.
When Jesus died, ALL your sins were future. Another thing to keep in mind is that God doesn’t live in your time zone. He is outside time. He sees all your sins, past-present-future, as a composite whole, and they are all done away.

We still have sin IN us because of our flesh. After all, we are resurrected spirits but in and unresurrected body. We need Jesus’ covering as we walk through life so that, when we occasionally sin, they are instantly gone. It’s like living under a waterfall.

Unreprovable, Irreproachable.
Church, beloved in God’s sight, you are FOREVER BLAMELESS, not because of anything you did, but because you are IN Christ. He CANNOT reprove you because you stand in the perfection of His Son. IT WOULD BE UNJUST TO JESUS IF HE DID, since He already paid the full price for all of them.
In the halls of justice they have a name for being tried twice for a crime: “Double Jeopardy.” There is no double jeopardy in God’s court.

In Remembrance Of Me.
Is communion to remember our sins? Or in remembrance of what Jesus did? It’s supposed to be the latter. But the Church has turned it into a remembrance of sins. This ought not be!

Paul told the Corinthians, “…the Lord Jesus on the same night in which He was betrayed took bread; and when He had given thanks, He broke it and said, “Take, eat; this is My body which is broken for you; DO THIS IN REMEMBRANCE OF ME.”
I Corinthians 11:23-24.

Why would we to bring to God a remembrance of our sins if Jesus took them ALL away? We don’t confess our sins to God IN ORDER TO BE FORGIVEN. We confess them to Him BECAUSE WE ALREADY ARE. When we do that, He can help us overcome those things with which we struggle.

NO MIDDLE GROUND.
Church, you never, ever have to go to God to ask Him to forgive your sins to be made right with Him again. As far as God is concerned, between you and Him, it’s a done deal.

Does that mean we never commit sins ever again? Of course not! But when you fall, you fall INSIDE THE ARK; IN CHRIST. NEVER EVER do you fall outside or do the floodwaters of Judgment swirling all around you come inside.

Your sins are either ALL GONE for your entire life, beginning to end………..OR……….you are still unforgiven of ALL and still UNsaved. Those are the only two states of being. It’s either/or, not both: PICK ONE.

WILL THE REAL GOSPEL PLEASE STAND UP.
There is a fear in the Church that knowing you are forgiven for your entire life will give people a “License to sin.” In case you hadn’t noticed, people sin just fine without one.
The fact of the matter is, the exact opposite is true. It is the LACK of knowing how forgiven we are which causes licentiousness. Jesus Himself said, “He that is forgiven much, loves much.”

1 John 1:9.
You might also check with the Greek of 1 John 1:9 if you don’t believe me. You’ll find that the word “cleanse” is in the AORIST TENSE. That means your asking forgiveness from God and your being cleansed is a ONE-TIME, NEVER-TO-BE-REPEATED ACT. 1 John 1:9 IS A SALVATION VERSE, not an action that believers were meant to do continuously.
